Privacy Policy
Last updated 12 October 2026
Toonik is a frame-by-frame animation app for Android. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: your drawings never leave your device, and the only thing the app sends is anonymous usage statistics you can switch off.
- No accounts, no advertising
- No sign-in and no profiles. No advertising and no third-party tracking of any kind.
- Analytics you can switch off
- Anonymous usage statistics through Firebase — which features get used, never what you draw. Settings → Privacy turns it off.
- Your work stays on your device
- Drawings, projects, audio and saved objects are written to private storage on your phone and never uploaded.
Your work stays on your device
Every drawing, project, animation, audio recording and saved object you create is written to private storage on your own device. None of it is uploaded anywhere. We cannot see your work, and we run no servers that hold it.
Uninstalling Toonik deletes everything it stored, so export anything you want to keep first.
When you export a video, GIF, image sequence or project backup, or use the share button, that file goes wherever you send it — your gallery, your files, or an app you pick. Once it leaves Toonik, the privacy policy of that destination applies instead of this one.
What the app sends over the internet
Toonik holds the INTERNET permission and uses it for exactly three things, none of
which involve anything you draw:
Anonymous usage analytics, through Google Firebase Analytics: which features get used and how often, so we know what to improve. That means events like “a movie was exported as MP4” or “a sticker was created” — never the drawing, never a project or layer name, never anything you type. Counts such as frame numbers are rounded into bands first. Firebase assigns a random app-instance identifier and records device model, OS version, country and language, under Google's Privacy Policy. You can switch this off in Settings → Privacy, which stops collection inside the SDK rather than merely skipping it in our code.
Update checks. Toonik asks the Play Store app whether a newer version exists so it can prompt you to update. That happens inside Google Play and we receive nothing from it.
The rating prompt, if you choose to leave a review — also handled by Google Play.
There is no advertising and no third-party tracking of any kind.
Permissions, and why each one exists
| Permission | What it is for | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Microphone | Recording a voice-over or sound effect onto your animation's audio track. | Only while you are actively recording. Recordings are saved into your project on the device and never transmitted. |
| Vibration | Brief haptic feedback on some controls. | Can be switched off in Settings. |
| Storage | Saving an exported video or image to your gallery. | Only when you export or save, and only on Android 9 and older — newer versions do not need it. |
Toonik does not request access to your location, contacts, calendar, phone, or your photo library at large.
Camera and photos. When you use a photo as a canvas background, Toonik hands you Android's own camera app or photo picker. You choose exactly one image, and only that image comes back. Toonik never browses your gallery and holds no camera permission of its own.
Children
Toonik is suitable for all ages. There is no sign-up, no chat, no social feature, no advertising and no purchase flow that gathers information. The anonymous usage analytics described above can be switched off in Settings and collect nothing that identifies a person.
Your rights
We hold no account and no personal data about you — the analytics above are anonymous and cannot be traced back to a person, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export or delete. Your work is yours and sits on your own device, where you can remove it whenever you like — project by project in the app, or all at once by uninstalling.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be published here and the date at the top updated. If a future release ever begins collecting data, we will say so plainly before it does.
